General Job Description Houston law firm is seeking a Trusts, Estates, & Guardianship Litigation paralegal with a minimum of 3-5 years of current relevant experience in a law firm environment. This position will report to the direct supervising Shareholders and located in Houston, TX.   Duties and Responsibilities
  • Draft motions, petitions, discovery requests, correspondence to clients and other legal documents
  • Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, mediations, trials and arbitrations
  • Prepare trial subpoenas, deposition notices, and all relevant releases for ordering records
  • Perform legal research using Accurint, Westlaw & Lexis/Nexis 
  • Prepare notebooks and exhibits for hearing, depositions, trials, & arbitrations 
  • Prepare deposition summaries and case summaries for attorney use
  • Coordinate and maintain large volumes of paper and electronic documents in an orderly manner
  • Document collection from clients and witnesses
  • Document subpoenas to third parties
  • Assist in deposition preparation, including exhibit identification and organization
  • Summarize cases and prepare reports for attorneys
  • Create timeline of events for each case as directed by supervising attorneys
  • Prepare and organize document production and exhibits using Ipro and OnCue
  • Research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources
  • Monitor deadlines in connection with numerous estates
  • Coordinate logistics and assist attorneys during client meetings and document execution
  • Prepare estate related documents for attorney review such as inventories and notices to beneficiaries
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred
  • Paralegal certificate preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a law firm environment
  • Experience with filings in probate courts in Harris and surrounding counties
  • Highly proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe

  • Detail oriented with strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast pace environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Styles
  • Ability to work occasional overtime and weekends
Physical requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
