Setting: K-12 School Campuses (varies by district) Help Students with Visual Impairments Access Education and Build Independence We're hiring Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs) for school-based opportunities across multiple locations. TVIs provide specialized instruction and support that enables students with visual impairments to access curriculum, develop independence, and successfully participate in the school environment. As a key member of the special education team, you'll collaborate with students, families, teachers, related service providers, and administrators to ensure students receive the tools and accommodations they need to succeed academically and functionally. - Providing direct instruction to students with visual impairments
- Conducting vision-related educational assessments
- Supporting access to educational materials and classroom accommodations
- Teaching compensatory and functional skills that promote independence
- Assisting with Braille instruction when appropriate
- Collaborating with classroom teachers and special education teams
- Participating in ARD/IEP meetings and goal development
- Consulting with families regarding student progress and support strategies
- Recommending assistive technology and adaptive equipment
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining required documentation
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification or endorsement recognized by the state of employment
- Valid teaching certificate/license required by the applicable state
- Ability to meet district fingerprinting and background clearance requirements
- Experience working with students with visual impairments preferred
- Valid Arizona teaching certificate
- Teacher of the Visually Impaired endorsement or approved certification
- Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required
- Valid Texas educator certification
- Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI) certification required through the Texas Education Agency (TEA)
- Completion of district-required background checks
- Experience providing services in K-12 educational settings
- Knowledge of Braille instruction and tactile learning materials
- Familiarity with assistive technology for students with visual impairments
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Experience participating in IEP development and implementation
