Objective
Assist in the execution of income tax compliance and accounting for multiple entities operating in the U.S. Prepare and/or review US federal and state income tax returns, income tax provision, and tax planning activities. Help identify tax risks and opportunities, as well as process improvements. Collaborate with other departments, tax service providers, auditors, and US and Global management teams.
Main Responsibilities
· Train, develop, and mentor the other members of the U.S. tax team.
· Preparation and/or review of income tax accounting and calculating tax provisions under IFRS and Managerial accounting standards for US entities.
· Assist in foreign tax operations including tax planning and strategy, international tax compliance, transfer pricing and procedures, and tax accounting matters effecting foreign operations.
· Assist in developing tax planning strategies in partnership with company management and Global Tax Area to optimize ETR and improve compliance.
· Assist in identifying tax risks and opportunities in U.S. operations and perform due diligence to verify the U.S. entities are in compliance.
· Assist in providing guidance to the organization on tax issues and tax planning by advising and training other departments in Operations, Commercial, and Finance/Accounting on tax concepts and issues.
· Provide technical assistance to other functional areas requiring tax support for project analysis.
· Evaluate changes in tax practices, policies, and procedures as required by new tax developments, legislation, and/or changes in business operations and suggest possible courses of action.
· Prepare and/or review U.S. federal and state income/franchise tax returns and tax return workpapers.
· Assist in defending the U.S. entities during income tax audits by preparing responses to information document requests and questions from auditors and/or external advisors.
· Assist in providing information required for the calculation of transfer prices among companies, and understanding of applicable rules and regulations.
· Compliance with SOX controls and internal controls specific to the corporate tax functions.
Qualifications
· Tax candidate with 7 - 10 years of income tax compliance and accounting experience in a high-level tax role with large U.S. corporations.
· Hands-on experience in the preparation of U.S. federal and state income & franchise tax returns and tax return workpapers.
· Knowledge of IFRS income tax accounting standards and preparation of tax provision workpapers.
· Detailed and hands-on experience in SAP operating and OneSource tax return compliance systems.
· Strong technical tax background with extensive experience in corporate tax function and accounting operations.
· Detail-oriented, hands-on, and well-organized with ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
· Highly motivated self-starter with good interpersonal, analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
· Certified public accountant and/or Masters in Taxation preferable.
· Ability to work as part of a team within a multicultural environment across international regions.
