Job Description

Tax Accountant - Houston, TX 77028 Responsibilities
  • File Motor Fuel Excise and Sales/Use Tax returns Manage refunds with State Taxing authorities 
  • Communicate with vendors and customers for tax-related documentation Review and verify client-submitted tax forms Input customer exemptions in tax software 
  • Collaborate with departments to resolve tax invoicing issues 
  • Assist in departmental correspondence and calls 
  • Provide tax forms and applications assistance to customers 
  • Maintain Excel spreadsheets and provide tax rates to sales reps 
  • Scan tax documents Other assigned tasks and projects 
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of sales/excise tax filing experience Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills 
  • Live within 60 miles of Houston, TX 
  • Ability to handle confidential information 
  • Excellent time management and typing skills 
  • Professional phone etiquette 
Preferred
  • Motor Fuel Excise Tax experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • SAP, Vertex, or Avalara experience.
