Senior Controls Engineer
Houston, TX | Relocation Available
We are seeking a Senior CM&U Controls Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of control system solutions for gas turbine conversion, modification, and upgrade projects. This is a highly visible role supporting turbine modernization initiatives, controls upgrades, and customer-driven enhancement projects within the power generation industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead controls engineering projects from proposal through commissioning
• Design and develop PLC and HMI solutions using Allen Bradley platforms
• Create and modify P&IDs, control narratives, network architecture diagrams, and Bills of Material
• Develop and troubleshoot control system software and hardware
• Support customer design reviews, FAT testing, startup, and commissioning activities
• Collaborate with commercial, procurement, software, and field service teams
• Provide technical leadership on turbine controls modernization and upgrade projects
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• 10+ years of gas turbine controls experience or 15+ years of industrial controls experience
• Strong Allen Bradley PLC programming experience
• Experience with Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View
• Background in industrial automation, controls architecture, and HMI development
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• U.S. work authorization required
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with LM2500 and/or LM6000 gas turbines
• Experience with gas turbine upgrades, retrofits, and modernization projects
• Familiarity with Woodward, Siemens, GE, or Ovation control systems
• Knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols
• Field service and commissioning experience
