Senior Landman - Houston, TX  77024
This position is responsible for assisting with managing all land-related activities in support of EP Energy E&P Company’s Gulf of Mexico decommissioning activities. The project is anticipated to last one to three years. The responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining decommissioning contribution partner relationships, including working closely with various vendors and government agencies like the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE). Will work closely with the decommissioning VP of Operations and report to the EVP of Land & Business Development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for performing or directing title work to help identify P&A contribution parties.
  • Responsible for locating and contacting responsible Plug & Abandonment (P&A) contribution parties.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with other P&A contribution parties.
  • Assist with drafting and negotiating Decommissioning documents required for P&A contribution agreements.
  • Assist the legal department in enforcing P&A contribution agreements.
  • Working with the decommissioning VP of Operations to create AFEs for P&A contributors.
  • Responsible for assisting with the business relationships with the decommissioning vendors.
  • Responsible for managing the relationships and information processing and applicable responses to various authorities that hold jurisdiction over the Gulf of Mexico region.
  • Strong understanding of Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement rules and regulations. 
  • Maintaining complex interrelationships between disparate decommissioning agencies and all the inherent complexities.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • 10+ years of experience working offshore in the Gulf of Mexico, with preference given to hands-on decommissioning experience.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret legal documents and contracts. Respond to inquiries or complaints from the government or other regulatory agencies
  • Demonstrates a thoroughness in accomplishing a task through concern for all levels of detail, no matter how small. Monitors and checks work or information for accuracy and can focus on small details that can have significant impacts.
  • Full knowledge of MS Office, including strong knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • RL, RPL, or CPL certification through AAPL is an advantage.  Gulf of Mexico-related experience is a plus.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
