Job Description

Senior Accountant - Houston, TX - 77002 This position requires a bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting and 7-10 years of accounting experience. A CPA or progress towards CPA certification is strongly preferred. The candidate should have strong fundamental accounting skills and Excel proficiency, with additional experience in tools like PowerBI, VBA, or Python being advantageous.
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the General Ledger, Balance Sheet, and P&L for three entities involved in diverse trading activities, including crude, products, LPG, biofuels, petrochemicals, and shipping.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly financial analysis of G&A costs and variances for two entities.
  • Handle accruals, accounting entries, and bank reconciliation.
  • Approve G&A invoices and manage inter-company reconciliations.
  • Ensure regular reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare annual budgets and forecasts, and provide actual vs. budget analysis.
  • Analyze IFRS 16 lease contracts and assist with transfer pricing.
  • Oversee sales and excise tax compliance, prepare tax returns, and manage communication with tax advisors.
  • Support consolidation and reporting for group reporting and annual tax filings.
  • Mentor new team members, lead projects, and review accounting entries.
