Our client located in the Conroe area is looking for a Purchasing Specialist to join their team! Will be working in a warehouse environment - May stand for long periods of time and be exposed to external weather conditions while visiting warehouses/sites.
Job Duties:
· Procure all materials and raw goods, ensuring cost effectiveness and quality standards.
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliability and flexibility in the supply chain.
· Partner with the Procurement team to onboard new suppliers and support the introduction of new products.
· Collaborate with Operations to maintain appropriate inventory levels and avoid material shortages or overages.
· Manage inventory across third-party warehouses and terminals to align with production and distribution needs.
· Work closely with Finance to ensure accurate stock costing and timely vendor payments.
· Support the Sales team with pricing information and cost analysis to assist in quoting and customer support.
· Participate in daily operational meetings to stay aligned with production and supply chain requirements.
· Address supplier-related issues proactively and escalate unresolved concerns to the appropriate team members.
· Conduct daily reviews and updates of open purchase orders (status, delivery dates, quantities, etc.).
· Utilize MRP tools and ERP systems (Sage X3 preferred) to execute purchasing and replenishment tasks.
· Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Skill and Knowledge Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field).
· 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
· Demonstrated success in managing procurement spend and supplier relationships.
· Proven ability to develop and execute sourcing strategies.
· Experience maintaining inventory thresholds and working with MRP systems.
· Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP experience required, Sage X3 preferred.
· Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively across departments and build internal/external partnerships.
