Paralegal
Insurance Defense
Location: Houston - off Allen Parkway
Fully in office
Salary: up to $90k + benefits, parking paid
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management: Assist attorneys in managing caseloads, including maintaining files, tracking deadlines, and ensuring timely responses to court orders and discovery requests. Document Preparation: Draft, proofread, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses. Discovery: Coordinate and manage discovery processes, including document production, interrogatories, and depositions. Prepare discovery requests and responses. Research: Conduct legal research and gather relevant case law, statutes, and regulations. Summarize findings for attorneys. Client Interaction: Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts to gather information and provide case updates. Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions and court appearances. Court Filings: Prepare and file documents with the court, ensuring compliance with procedural rules and deadlines. Case Analysis: Assist in analyzing case facts and evidence, preparing case summaries, and developing case strategies. Administrative Support: Organize and maintain case files, including electronic filing systems. Manage scheduling of meetings, depositions, and court appearances. Compliance: Ensure adherence to legal procedures and ethical standards in all aspects of case management and documentation.
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on insurance defense preferred.
