Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Outside Sales Representative with a minimum of 5 years of sales experience in the hardwood lumber industry, specifically selling custom trim, exterior cladding, decking products, and related building materials. As an Outside Sales Representative, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with custom home builders, custom cabinet makers, and commercial builders. Your primary focus will be on driving sales, achieving revenue targets, and expanding our customer base in the assigned territory.
Customer base is $3 million and up custom homes, we really do most of our work in the $10-$20 million home range. Luxury homes and large commercial projects, like restaurants, hotels, office, buildings, etc.

As an Outside Sales Representative, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with custom home builders, custom cabinet makers, and commercial builders. Your primary focus will be on driving sales, achieving revenue targets, and expanding our customer base in the assigned territory.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to meet or exceed sales targets within the assigned territory.
Identify and engage with potential customers, including custom home builders, custom cabinet makers, and commercial builders, to generate new business opportunities.
Conduct thorough market research to identify industry trends, customer needs, and competitor activities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new customers, providing exceptional customer service and support.
Conduct product presentations, demonstrations, and training sessions for customers to showcase the features and benefits of our hardwood lumber, custom trim, exterior cladding, and decking products.
Collaborate closely with the internal team to ensure accurate and timely order processing, inventory management, and delivery of products to customers.
Attend trade shows, industry events, and networking functions to promote our products and services, and to stay updated on market developments.
Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, and market analysis to the sales management team.
Stay informed about industry regulations, building codes, and best practices to effectively communicate product compliance and suitability to customers.
Continuously develop product knowledge and stay updated on industry trends through self-study, training programs, and participation in professional associations.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of proven outside sales experience in the hardwood lumber industry, with a focus on custom trim, exterior cladding, and decking products. Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and building customer relationships. Strong understanding of the custom home building and custom cabinet making industries, with some exposure to commercial builders. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence customers at all levels. Self-motivated and driven to succeed, with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently. Exceptional negotiation and problem-solving skills to address customer inquiries and resolve issues. Proficient in using CRM software and other sales tools to manage customer relationships and track sales activities. Ability to travel within the assigned territory as needed to meet with customers and attend industry events. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
