Summary of Job: We’re looking for an exceptional individual to join the team and take on critical responsibilities as our Operations Analyst. This position will be a hybrid role: part operations, part investor communications, part finance team. You’ll work closely with the COO on operations/IR related projects, and you will be an integral part of the finance team. You will help lead the monthly accounting close process for the management company and several fund vehicles monthly and quarterly.
Responsibilities:
Fund & management co financial reporting:
- Perform reconciliations of internal accounting systems, cryptocurrency and fiat balances
- Support the creation of valuation memos monthly + quarterly
- Monthly/Quarterly Fund reporting pack review provided by our fund administrator
- Review of purchase agreements, SAFTs, and SAFEs for valuation and reporting
- Manage internal shadow books for each fund
- Evaluate current financial and accounting process and implement improvements
- Lead the production of financial information required for RIA filings requirements alongside our Controller
- Manage daily fund banking operations such as wire transfers and ACH processing
- Ensuring financial reporting follows appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
- Manage cash flow, bill pay, budgets and projections for management entities
Operations + IR:
- Help lead responses to investor inquiries
- Review and onboard service providers + service provider KYC re-certifications
- Execute and improve our processes and internal controls for recordkeeping accuracy
- Proactively identify control gaps and build processes and controls around them.
- Partner cross-functionally on major new projects/fund vehicles/etc for smooth launches
Tax/Audit reporting:
- Lead the execution of annual tax returns with our independent tax accountants for all entities
- Work with the finance team on the execution of our annual fund audits with our independent auditors
- Review and work with our third-party fund admin on year-end Financial Statements
- Alongside the finance team, oversee UK HMRC tax reporting with our UK tax provider
- Assist with preparation and filing of various tax matters, like K1s, commercial rent tax, state business tax filings, etc.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in alternative investment management industry (Hedge Fund, Private Equity, venture capital, investment banking or relevant industry)
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- CPA required
- Tax experience preferred
- Previous audit and/or tax experience preferred (prior experience at a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus and/or experience in fund administration)
- Understanding of GAAP rules and regulations
- Strong accounting and analytical skills
- Strong computer skills: QuickBooks, excel, and google drive
- Diligent, hard-working, and incredibly reliable
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
- Enjoys working in a small, entrepreneurial team
