We are seeking an Accounting Specialist to join a professional services firm in Houston. This position will support the Accounting Manager with day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, credit card reconciliations, client billing, expense processing, and new matter setup.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong accounting foundation who is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in growing within a law firm accounting environment.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable invoices, check requests, and employee reimbursements
- Reconcile firm credit cards and research discrepancies
- Assist with the client billing process
- Track monthly firm expenses and incorporate applicable expenses into client billing
- Run client conflict checks and assist with new client/matter setup
- Assist with attorney accounting inquiries
- Enter attorney time as needed
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
- Assist the Accounting Manager with additional accounting projects as needed
- Previous accounting, AP, billing, or bookkeeping experience
- Law firm or professional services experience is a plus
- Understanding of basic accounting principles
- Strong data-entry skills with excellent attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
