A well-established law firm specializing in appeals, employment law, civil litigation, and insurance defense is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Assistant with 3 to 5 years of experience to support an attorney handling appeals and various employment law matters. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organized, proactive, and eager to contribute to a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Details:
- Located by the North Star Mall/410 area
- Direct Hire Opportunity with three days hybrid
- Compensation $60,000 - $68,000
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to an attorney specializing in appeals and employment law
- Draft, review, and format legal documents, correspondence, and filings
- Assist with the preparation and filing of briefs, motions, and pleadings for appellate and civil litigation cases
- Manage and organize case files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible
- Conduct legal research, including gathering and summarizing case law relevant to ongoing matters
- Coordinate meetings, depositions, and court appearances, maintaining a detailed and organized calendar
- Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel on case-related matters
- Handle billing and timekeeping tasks in coordination with the attorney’s workload
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of legal assistant experience, preferably in appellate law, civil litigation, or employment law
- Strong knowledge of legal procedures, court rules, and filing processes in Texas
- Proficiency with legal research tools and software (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively
- Experience in insurance defense is a plus
