ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in human resources, business, or related field.
· 5+ years of experience in an HR position required experience in a legal environment a plus.
· Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
· Proficiency with HRIS systems; knowledge of UKG a plus.
· Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills with employees and all levels of management; able to create a working environment of open communication and trust.
· Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through completion.
· Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
· Maintain strict confidentiality of employee performance and personnel information.
· Aptitude for problem-solving and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies.
· Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
· Able to comfortably lift and carry 15 lbs.

• Full-time position: Monday through Friday. 37.5 hours workweeks; 7.5 hours per day.
• Available to start immediately or at least with a couple weeks’ notice from time of offer.
• Full-time onsite for the duration of the probationary period (90 days). Hybrid thereafter (3in-office/2remote).
• Law firm or professional services experience a plus.

Job Description
General Summary: The HR Generalist will assist the Human Resources Manager and the Director of Human Resources with strategic and hands-on support in the areas of benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, recruitment, and onboarding.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Benefits Administration
- Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
- Administers leave programs, managing documentation, and compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Responds to benefits inquiries from all personnel on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
- Responds to 401(k) inquiries from all personnel relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
Employee Relations
- Assists with planning and coordinating Firm events including holiday party, firm picnic, and firm luncheons.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from employees and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to HR Manager and/or HR Director.
- Supports employee relations and engagement initiatives, including organizing sympathy and celebration acknowledgments, birthday celebrations, monthly newsletter, employee anniversaries, new hire check ins, and exit interviews. Attends and participates in employee meetings.
Performance Management
- Provides support to managers to correct employee issues in early stages, including attendance, performance, scheduling.
- Supports HR Director with coordination of annual staff and attorney performance review process and maintain the evaluation database.
- Assists with learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities.
- Assists with employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains employee records, ensuring completion and accuracy of details such as employee contact information, job classification, pay rates, organizational structure, and other key details.
Onboarding
- Maintains HRIS onboarding module and facilitate the onboarding process for new hires.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
- Initiates background checks and conducts employee eligibility verifications.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to HR Manager or HR Director.
Recruitment
- Collaborates with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
- Assists with job posting and advertisement processes.
- Screens applications and selects qualified candidates.
- Schedules interviews; oversees preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials.
- Assists with the interview process, attending and conducting interviews with managers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
