Gas Accounting Supervisor (Financial Reporting)

Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
As a supervisor of Gas Accounting, you are responsible for the accounting related to the volumetric transactions on our natural gas pipelines. In this role you will review, analyze, and record volume activity and prepare documents and schedules used for both internal and external reporting. This role will require strong critical thinking, organizational and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising staff
- Overseeing the monthly close process
- Recording both GAAP and FERC transactions related to fuel, inventory and imbalances
- Establishing and maintaining SOX controls
- Preparing balance sheet reconciliations, documents, and work papers used in our SEC, EIA and FERC filings
- Interacts and coordinates activities with various internal customers
- Works with internal and external auditors
- Assists in ad hoc projects
- Development of staff

- Strong accounting and analysis skills
- Ability to multi-task

- Strong attention to detail
- Requires a level of commercial presence and ability to work with all levels of personnel
- Proficient in Excel
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Previous Supervision role a plus
- 5 plus years in natural gas
- Understanding of FERC accounting
- Experience in regulated trackers
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
- CPA
