Mechanical Engineer (Hands-On | Instrumentation)
Houston, TX (Onsite) | Direct Hire
We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys being hands-on — not just sitting behind a screen.
This role combines SolidWorks design, shop work (CNC/lathe), testing, and field support for high-temperature measurement systems used in oil & gas and industrial environments.
What You’ll Do
- Design and modify mechanical components and assemblies for temperature measurement systems
- Develop and maintain CAD models/drawings using SolidWorks
- Support fabrication and testing using CNC, lathe (primary), and shop equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues
- Conduct field visits for installation, testing, and validation
- Perform calibration and ensure system accuracy
- Contribute to R&D and continuous product improvement
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology
- 1–3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Proficiency in SolidWorks
- Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude (shop experience required)
- Basic understanding of electrical components and systems
- Comfortable working in industrial/plant environments
- Experience with 3D printing or part fabrication
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with thermocouples or temperature measurement systems
- Background in oil & gas, chemical plants, or industrial processing
- CNC programming or ability to make edits
- Exposure to instrumentation or control systems
- Familiarity with Linux or system configuration
