Reimagine What’s Possible  a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer to join our Instrument and Electrical team in our Standard Plants Product Line (SPPL) located in PA.

The SPPL I&E team provides engineering and design support for our portfolio of productized industrial plants and equipment including Cryogenic Distillation Air Separation Plants, Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) Separation Plants, Ammonia Dissociation Plants, Electrolysis Plants, Steam Methane Reforming Plants, and Hydrogen Fueling Equipment. Our business supports customers in a diverse range of industries including hydrogen for mobility, metals processing, glass manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, foods processing, electronics, and chemical and petrochemical manufacturing to name a few.

You will execute projects in all regions of the globe. As a result, we ask that you be willing to travel both domestically and internationally as needed. Travel duration is typically one to two weeks. Travel requirements are typically 5-10% or less per year with an effort to maintain a healthy work life balance. As an Electrical Engineer you will:
 
  • Execute projects to install SPPL productized plants and fueling equipment.
  • Develop electrical single line diagrams and overall plant electrical distribution systems.
  • Specify and purchase key electrical equipment including medium and low voltage switchgear and motor control centers, transformers, VFD’s, UPS systems, DC systems, etc. Responsibilities include writing purchase specifications, evaluating quotations, performing technical bid evaluations, vendor document review, and factory acceptance testing.
  • Specify large induction motors and starting systems including reduced voltage autotransformers, reactor start, electronic soft-start/VFD/LCI, etc.
  • Perform electrical system studies including short circuit, load flow, transient motor start, protection relay coordination, and arc flash, and creating appropriate protective device settings.
  • Perform coordination with customer and/or utility to develop required power for operating plants.
  • Provide remote start-up and commissioning support for electrical distribution equipment and motors.
  • Participate in development of new and maintenance of existing productized industrial gas plants and H2 Fueling equipment offerings.

Desired skills, experience, and attributes:

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering with 3-10 years’ experience in design of industrial electrical power systems. A junior engineer is preferred.  
  • May consider other degrees if the work experience is spot on. 
  • KEY:  design power for industrial centers, load calculations, circuits, wire gauges.  Utility power is NOT the same and not applicable - different voltage design and systems.  
  • Should be able to read control schematics, they won't work on control systems but does interact closely with this group.  
  • Experience in the use of SKM Power Tools, MS Word, and MS Excel.
  • Conceptual understanding of a product-based approach to plant and equipment design
  • Personal accountability as well as a willingness to ask for help when needed is important.
  • Ability to prioritize project, product and other commitments while executing multiple activities.
  • Able to work within a matrix engineering team environment and communicate effectively with team members, other functional disciplines, project managers, and customers.
  • Ability to understand Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) is preferred but not necessary.
  • Experience in process instrumentation and controls, air conditioning, telecommunications, PLC’s, and electronic circuits is not required for this position.
