Job Description
Locations: Beaumont, TX • Crowley, TX • Houston, TX • Forney, TX
Pay: $44–$47/hr preferred (up to $51/hr based on experience/setting)
Work Setting Options: Campus-Based (in-person)
Employment Type: W2 (1099 not eligible)
Bonus: $2,000 completion bonus for 100% in-person, campus-based assignments
About the Role We’re hiring Educational Diagnosticians (DIAGs) to evaluate students suspected of having learning disabilities or other educational needs. In this role, you’ll administer and interpret academic/behavioral assessments, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and support compliance with state and federal special education requirements.
Available Work Environments - Campus-Based DIAG
- Testing, report writing, ARD/IEP meeting attendance
- Collaboration with campus teams and families
- May include case management depending on campus needs
- Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational and academic evaluations
- Interpret assessment results and translate findings into clear, compliant reports
- Review academic and behavioral data to determine eligibility for services
- Partner with IEP/ARD teams to recommend appropriate supports and instructional strategies
- Maintain accurate documentation and timelines aligned with legal requirements
- Communicate results effectively with educators, families, and related service providers
Core Requirements Educational Diagnosticians candidates should have:
- Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Assessment, or closely related field
- 2–3 years of verifiable classroom teaching experience (often special education)
- Completion of a state-approved Educator Preparation Program (EPP) for Educational Diagnosticians
- Passing a state-specific certification exam (e.g., TExES, Praxis/NMTA)

Texas (Houston, Denton, Justin):
- Master’s degree + 3 years classroom teaching experience
- TExES 253 required
New Mexico (Shiprock):
- Standalone Educational Diagnostician (PreK–12) license
- Master’s degree + valid teaching or ancillary license
- Passing NMTA/Praxis for Educational Diagnosticians
- Multiple location options across TX and NM
- Competitive hourly pay with upside to $50/hr
- $2,000 completion bonus for qualifying in-person campus roles
