As the Environmental Specialist, you will: 

  • Under the supervision of the Plant’s EHS Team Leader coordinates the  Plant’s environmental (air, waste and water) activities to ensure compliance with all federal, state and  environmental regulations. 

  • Responsible for preparing environmental permits reviews, applications and maintaining permit records; preparing reports to State and Federal environmental agencies, spills, etc. to governmental agencies as required.

  • Coordinate environmental sampling and analysis, solid wastes, and proper disposition of routine water and coordination and training to maintain Qualified Class D water operators to maintain plant potable water.

  • Review and stay abreast of governmental regulations and make recommendations to plant management for compliance with new regulations. Communicate environmental requirements to plant employees as needed or requested.

  • Develop programs and make recommendations to reduce water and solid effluents. Investigate and submit reports on environmental complaints. Responsible for appropriate aspects of  Plant Responsible CARE initiatives, SARA Title III and CAER.

  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure new construction and unit modifications new projects or construction consider environmental permitting requirements and provide expertise to project team members on managing environmental risks and requirements across the asset life cycle.

  • Monitor efforts in the site to ensure compliance with all elements of Process Safety Management and the  Product Stewardship Initiatives.

  • Monitor safe handling, identification, storage, and removal of hazardous waste streams resulting from production activities.

  • Be visible presence in the facility assessing compliance with safety, PSM and environmental requirements, utilizing coaching and mentoring skills to drive EHS improvements.

  • Partner with Purchasing/Procurement on contracts for environmental and waste services, as well as lead identification of waste disposal options (including cost analysis) for non-routine maintenance or operations work (e.g., tank cleaning, turnaround equip.

  • Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed.  If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.

  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.

  • Assist other employees in accomplishments of company goals.  Follow instructions and perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

  • Participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.  Participate in and completes company-required training programs.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work  in the United States

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or related field.

  • 3+ years of related work experience in manufacturing or chemicals.

  • RCRA, 90day storage, LDAR, TRI reporting, MACT reporting, DMR, PBR, et


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer prior experience in chemical or manufacturing industries.​ Will consider strong manufacturing

Specific Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.

  • Requires a general knowledge of environmental, health, safety, and process safety regulations.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing with  governmental personnel.
