Job Description

Controller opening - CPA or Master's in Accounting Required

An energy services company is seeking a Controller to oversee all financial accounting, cost accounting, inventory management, banking/audit/tax compliance for the enterprise. The position is at company headquarters near NRG stadium.

Controller Duties:

  • Supervise all day-to-day accounting and financial activities of the company.
  • Manage all accounting functions, including financial reporting, general ledger, inventory and cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting and forecasting, tax compliance, and various special analyses.
  • Timely prepare and distribute GAAP financial statements to management, board of directors, and external bank officers.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly inventory report.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain internal controls.
  • Respond to financial information requests from independent auditors, external tax accountants, executive management, and board audit committee.
  • Ensure local, county, and state tax returns are properly filed.
  • Provide bank compliance reports as required by financing contracts.
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
  • Administer some H.R. tasks including vacation/sick pay tracking and communication with third party personnel services.

Controller Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA and/or MAcc preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years or more of progressive experience in Accounting, public or private.
  • Detail oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and work in a team environment.
  • Prefer experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment. Oilfield supply/services a plus but not required.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, cost accounting methods, and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
