The Commercial Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing power plant assets for assigned customer accounts.  He/she will effectively and efficiently lead the planning, administration and management of the Commercial Management suite of services to ensure compliance with all service standards in addition to meeting customer requirements.  The Commercial  Manager shall organize and execute a business plan in line with power plant contracts and their operating structure.  The successful Commercial Manager will support the company’s interest at the project level to assure maximum profitability and return on investment including participation in the schedule and budget processes. The Commercial Manager is expected to have an established operating rhythm of activities, communications and checks/balances to ensure commercial and operation goals are achieved. Responsibilities: 
  • Provide daily P&L and Portfolio position report; roll up to Monthly P&L.
  • Confirm settlement invoices with commercial counterparties (power, gas, gas transport, etc.).
  • Produce monthly AMA report.
  • Produce monthly support of Plant operations and regulatory reporting (e.g., EIG 923).
  • Coordinate with EMA manager on daily bidding strategy, hedging (daily and term), fuel, optimization strategies.
  • Coordinate with Plant Operations on daily bidding.
  • Execute monthly review of budgeted vs actuals for revenue and expenses for each plant.
  • Review settlement information and identify areas for improvement.
  • Review transmission outages and congestion.
  • Manage credit agreement reporting requirements related to plants and commercial activity.
  • Provide development support.
  • Coordinate commercial contracts to support development projects.
  • Cultivate commercial network.
  • Evaluate optimization and development opportunities for batteries.
  • Identify premium nodal points for potential sites.
  • Monitor and participate when appropriate in regulatory and stakeholder channels.
  • Monitor and document ERCOT protocol changes that materially impact the platform.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other, related technical field with five (5) years’ of asset management, energy commodity or related technical experience. 
  • At least three (3) years of asset management experience.
  • Skilled at negotiating and administering contracts and agreements.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of power plant systems, life-cycle analysis, operational requirements, safety and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent commercial skills and a proven track record in planning, budgeting and financial assessment of power plant assets.
  • Extensive knowledge of power plant operating philosophies, processes and procedures.
  • Proven leadership and effective customer communications.
  • Financial/Operational competence (understanding of project operations, cost measurement and reporting). 
  • Prior P&L ownership a plus.
  • Organized and systematic approach to tasks requiring a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Technical competence (understand software, hardware, networks, etc.).
  •  Exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as strong presentation skills.
Desired Qualifications
  • MBA or advanced Business degree with focus on Economics and/or Finance.
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, budget management, collaborative work initiatives and working effectively with multiple business functions.
  • Previous, significant asset management experience.
  • Past, prior experience in managing and adapting a business for successful, high growth.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with ten (10) plus years of experience, additional education or certificates in power plant asset management.
  • Valid US passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • OEM or large project company experience a plus.
