Job Description


Our client is  civil engineering consulting firm with  five key service areas in Land Development, Municipal Services, Storm Water Services, Site Development, and Project Management cover the range of development in the Greater Houston area.

This role is responsible for working with and supporting Managers and Firm Principals on all aspects of development projects from initial inception and feasibility to final construction plans, agency reviews, approval, construction phase services, including inspection and acceptance. Some supervision of design and plan production staff and client coordination and involvement is expected.

Responsibilities:  


  • Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, to perform a task or a sequence of tasks for conventional projects with some complex features; collaboratively uses professional judgement in making some adaptations and modifications to aspects of assigned designed construction projects and alteration of engineering plans
  • Prepares engineering plans, reports, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications for assigned projects or portions of projects
  • Prepares calculations, such as storm drainage, wastewater, water systems, earthwork quantities, cost estimates, and other supporting documentation for public and private projects
  • Coordinates project assignments with others in his/her discipline group.
  • Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients, engineers, and architects, and recommends necessary changes
  • Research code issues, agency regulations, design options and document findings for Assistant Project Manager and/or Project Managers  
  • Performs plan review(s) to a level adequate of governmental approval; coordinates extensively with governing agencies regarding plan approvals/comments; prepare response letters as applicable; perform feasibility studies; read, understand, and apply recommendations from drainage reports, geotechnical reports, etc. as applicable to projects
  • Accurately convey engineering knowledge in both written and verbal communication in a professional manner
  • Coordinate construction inspection and acceptance packages, attend agency meetings as necessary, and coordinate with vendors and contractors
  • Understand and implement project sequencing from conception to acceptance, with project manager oversight


Qualifications: 


  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience within the civil engineering industry, and two (2) years of direct experience in Municipalities 
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university 
  • P.E. License in Texas strongly preferred or working towards this
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Programs 
  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD 
  • Knowledgeable of engineering principles 
  • Experience in coordination with government agencies on plan submittals, comments, and reviews 
  • Possess excellent time management skills and be able to complete multiple assigned tasks and meet deadlines 
  • Able to problem solve and work independently, as well as part of a team 
  • Proficient in leading design and plan production processes and teams. 
  • Possess excellent and professional verbal and written communication skills 
  • Maintain professional appearance and behavior 
  • Well organized and detail oriented
