CPA/Part Time
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced CPA / Accounting Consultant to provide part-time accounting and financial oversight for a nonprofit organization. This is a flexible opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting while also providing higher-level financial reporting and audit support.
The schedule will vary based on workload, month-end, committee meetings and annual audit needs. Ideally, this individual will be on-site 1–2 days per week for approximately 4–6 hours per day, with the flexibility to work remotely for additional responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage monthly account reconciliations and general accounting activities
- Prepare and cut vendor checks
- Reconcile grant revenue and related financial activity
- Ensure private foundation grant funds and transactions are accurately recorded
- Prepare monthly internal financial statements and reports
- Assist with budgeting and financial analysis
- Prepare financial information for Finance Committee and Board meetings
- Support the annual audit process, which occurs each October
- Provide accounting and Form 990 support throughout the year
- Maintain accurate financial records and provide consistent accounting oversight
- Work collaboratively with internal team members to reconcile funding and financial activity
What We’re Looking For
- CPA strongly preferred
- Strong hands-on accounting and financial reporting experience
- Experience with grant accounting/reconciliation
- Comfortable preparing financials for leadership, Finance Committees and Boards
- Audit and Form 990 support experience preferred
- Able to work independently and manage responsibilities with limited oversight
- Comfortable with a flexible workload that may increase around month-end, meetings and annual audit
- Ability to work both on-site and remotely
Schedule
- Part-time with hours varying based on organizational needs
- On-site approximately 1–2 days per week
- Approximately 4–6 hours on-site per day
- Additional work may be completed remotely
- Increased hours may be needed during month-end and annual audit periods
