Job Description
Our Machinist II pay range is $25 to $32 per hour. The hours are Mon-Thur 6:30 am to 3:30 pm, and Friday 6:30 am to 12:30 pm.
CNC Machinist II
MILL MACHINIST II
Seeking an experienced Mill Machinist II for a Houston based air-conditioned Machine Shop.
JOB SUMMARY
The CNC Machinist II demonstrates all of the skills of the CNC Machinist I and builds on this by demonstrating more advanced skills as well as taking on a more senior supervisory role. They are able to perform advanced techniques of CNC lathe operation including turning with an offset tail stock and boring functions. They can operate multiple machines at once, make their own fixtures, use more than one type of control and maintain tolerances of 0.0001”.
They use advanced techniques of setting-up and operating CNC milling machines including principles of clamping and locating work piece, selection of cutting tools and holders along with use of rotary tables. They also demonstrate pocketing slotting and key seat techniques as well as edging techniques.
The CNC Machinist II is able to create programs from scratch in Mastercam. They also demonstrate advanced knowledge of inspection practices and measuring instruments including the use of the optical comparator and the electronic height gage. They are able to perform advance tooling maintenance including sharpening drills.
The CNC Machinist II is also able to operate the majority of ancillary machines such as the band saw, bar bender, overhead crane, a forklift, the laser marking machine, the electro arc metal disintegrator and the press brake.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare and load raw materials;
• Read and understand blueprints and specifications;
• Utilize CNC lathe and/or mill to produce parts to customer’s drawings and specifications;
• Conduct quality assurance checks;
• Complete accurate documentation;
• Meet schedules and maintain quality;
• Perform all necessary machine maintenance;
• Keep work area and shop clean;
• Understand and follow all shop safety rules, including safe material handling;
• Report to shop foreman and senior management;
• Perform other duties as necessary to meet company needs.
REQUIREMENTS
• High school diploma with a minimum of 3-years machining experience;
• Proficient in advanced CNC machining for both lathe and mill operations;
• Familiar with manufacturing safety procedures and practices;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills;
• Knowledge of Fanuc and Fadal controls;
• Forklift operator’s license;
• Comply with all company policies.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Frequently stand and walk to move around shop repeatedly throughout the day;
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs;
• Exposure to the manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection;
• Weekend and overtime work is required from time-to-time to meet production deadlines.
