The Benefits/Payroll Specialist position encompasses critical responsibilities related to the smooth operation of our clients benefits and payroll. The Specialist is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker's compensation, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, retirement plans, etc.). The Specialist continually investigates new benefits programs, improves existing programs, and supervises and monitors benefits administration, and provides excellent customer service. This position will support benefits across all divisions.

The Specialist continually investigates new benefits programs, improves existing programs, and supervises and monitors benefits administration, and provides excellent customer service. This position will support benefits across all divisions.
Responsibilities:
- Informs and advises all employees on benefits matter regarding eligibility, coverage and provisions.
- Resolves issues pertaining to benefit programs.
- Manages leave/accommodation cases, including but not limited to, short-term and long-term disability claims, paid/unpaid leaves (e.g., FMLA, personal leaves and state leaves)
- Maintain HR System for benefits and payroll deductions.
- Prepare and process payroll for assigned divisions based on payroll schedules.
- Back up payroll for other divisions as needed.
- Thorough understanding of benefits principles and practices, including compliance/law.
- Knowledge of benefits contract language
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organization.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and growing environment.
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or equivalent years of experience.
- 5 years progressive HR experience, especially in payroll and benefits administration
- Multi-state payroll and benefits experience required, California and Arizona required.
- Certified payroll experience a plus
- Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
- Experience managing large scale benefit program change projects and program rollouts.
- Minimal travel required.
