Accounting Manager - Upper Kirby, Houston
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Accountant or Accounting Lead who is ready to take the next step as an Accounting Manager to lead our accounting team. If you are a seasoned accounting professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for excellence, we invite you to apply and play a pivotal role in our team. As the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounting function, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and providing strategic financial guidance to the organization. This position requires a deep understanding of accounting principles and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights into variances, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of general ledger entries.
- Review and approve complex journal entries and reconciliations.
- Maintain compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
- Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliation of accounts and preparation of financial statements.
- Collaborate with auditors during external audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Play a key role in the development and maintenance of budgets and forecasts.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
- Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to promote professional growth within the team.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and management of accounting software and financial systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- MBA/ CPA certification is a plus.
- Insurance industry experience is a plus but not required
- 7+ years of accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent leadership and managerial abilities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
