Job Description

A reputable, international law firm is seeking an HR Manager for their Downtown Dallas office.  This is a hybrid position - 4 days in office, 1 day working remotely.

Position Overview
The Dallas office is seeking a Human Resources Manager to provide high quality HR support to both attorneys and business professionals. The business professional HR administration includes organizational development, training, leading change management, administering performance management cycles, aiding recruitment efforts, and supporting policy interpretation and administration. This role collaborates with a variety of business teams at varying levels to influence decision making and to contribute significantly to their team’s success through strategic activities such as recruiting, retaining, rewarding, and developing top-tier talent in the industry. The HR Manager will also supervise the Dallas legal support teams, collaborating with the practice groups on workflow support requirements and coverage needs.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manages and oversees the Dallas legal support workloads to ensure balance and effectiveness; assigns and adjusts professional assistant/attorney assignments; provides timely and appropriate solutions to workload issues; manages PTO requests.
  • Provides performance coaching, feedback and management to assigned legal support teams and assists employees in goal setting.
  • Supports the office administrator and office Managing Partner(s) in managing overall office logistics, including coordination of communication with the Firm’s CTO and Executive Committee as it relates to weather and other emergency related events, when office closures or local events warrant it
  • Collaborates as part of a firm-wide team of professionals working on strategic and change management activities in support of evolving legal support needs.
  • Develops and maintains positive client relationships (internal and external).
  • Works well with limited supervision alongside the Associate Director of Human Resources, to investigate and resolve employee complaints.
  • Demonstrates a high level of discretion and handles confidential information sensitively.
  • Works closely with managers on employee relations issues, including the progressive disciplinary process and/or termination, and organizational and compliance issues.
  • Serves as project lead for occasional departmental processes/projects relating to Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and manage undergraduate internship programs for the Dallas office.
  • Develops and delivers training to employees to develop new skills, enhance existing skills and prepare for advancement; conducts training needs assessments with managers.
  • Ensures legal and regulatory compliance in reporting and documentation for all recruitment, interviewing, hiring, disciplinary and termination practices.
  • Collaborates with the Firm’s compensation team to identify and resolve salary, pay grade or status issues.
  • Conducts exit interviews, identifying reasons for employee turnover and reports trends regularly to the HR steering committee.
  • Administers the full cycle of leaves of absences, including disability leaves, parental leaves, personal leaves, and family care.
  • Provides input for annual Human Resources budget
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a related field such as Human Resources, Organizational Development, or Business Administration. Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience
  • A minimum of seven years’ experience in human resources or related field, preferably in a law firm. Management experience preferred.
Special Knowledge
  • Current knowledge and understanding of federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Current knowledge of best practices for Human Resources, including and both local and federal leave of absence laws.
  • Relevant HR certifications (PHR or SHRM -CP) are a plus.
