Job Description
High-Growth Oil & Gas Company A rapidly expanding, privately held oil and gas company in the North Houston area is seeking a Cost Accountant to support its dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing operations. This role is a key part of the finance function and will work closely with plant leadership and corporate teams to drive visibility into production costs and operational efficiency.
About the Role:
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely cost accounting for multiple production sites, with a focus on tracking cost of goods sold (COGS), analyzing variances, and partnering with operations to improve cost performance. This is a highly visible position with growth potential, offering the chance to make a tangible impact within a scaling business.
Key Responsibilities:

Analyze and report on cost per unit across production facilities, incorporating labor, materials, energy, and overhead.

Maintain and update standard costs and BOMs; investigate and explain cost variances.

Partner with plant managers and operations leaders to gather data, validate inputs, and identify cost improvement opportunities.

Prepare COGS analysis by product line and facility.

Assist with inventory valuation, roll-forwards, and reconciliation during month-end close.

Support budgeting and forecasting processes related to manufacturing.

Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.

Contribute to ERP cost accounting enhancements and reporting automation.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

3+ years of relevant cost accounting experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and operational metrics.

Ability to bridge finance and operations — hands-on experience working with plant data and production teams is essential.

Proficient in Excel; ERP system experience (e.g., IFS, SAP, Oracle) strongly preferred.

Industry experience in oilfield services, mining, or process manufacturing a plus.

Self-starter with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
